Fat Tuesday

Today is Fat Tuesday and I've been back in exercise mode nearly all month. I've started to keep track of my WW points in an effort to slim down by my friend's wedding - where I will very excited to be the "matron" (what a yucky word) of honor, and only bridesmaid! I recently bought the Jillian Michaels' 30 day workout video, and its been a gruelling 10 days on this workout. The video itself is awesome- only 20 minutes a day, which is all i have time for, and its HARD! I'm almost ready to move to Level II and *bonus* I can now do a handful of real push-ups!!

Anyway, so this year, for my 40 days of Lent, I am going to do WW from home and exercise (mostly so that i can eat more food while staying in the points system). I really can't believe how much I've been eating points wise everyday. No wonder I didn't lose much before the wedding and have gained it all back plus some... like yesterday: I thought I was going to be great and got a veggie wrap from subway instead of my usual 6" on wheat - well, big mistake. The tortilla wrap has 100 more calories and 7g more fat than the bread!! Whoops!! Can't say I didn't try though.

This goal also will help with my meal planning and cooking goals for 2009 (which I've been pretty good at so far this year!). My next "big" ($20) purchase will be the WW cookbook i think.

Usually for Lent I give up something challenging (like soda freshman year of collage) or Pizza... which turns me off to them. Seriously, I haven't been able to drink soda much since then - 8 years later! The goal of this is to better myself (by reducing my personal obsession and gluttony to those foods) in time for Easter. A few years ago, I also tried to start reading the Bible; while I didn't stick with it as much as I wish I had, I've also kept with it as a good tool when I get stressed and every now and again I really love being able to go back to that. Maybe if I'm feeling adventurous I'll throw that into my Lent plans... we'll see.

The good thing is that I know God will help me do 40 days worth of nearly anything... I'm really excited about this one!
