My dog is not a Chihuahua

While walking the dogs yesterday, a group of passersby yelled out "look at that Chihuahua and the German Shepard!" That's the second time this month. Seriously, Trotter is 30 lbs and almost 2' tall. While we think he's mostly Whippet, I could understand people thinking he was a Grey hound, or even some kind of Terrier, but not a Chihuahua. That's just impressively dumb.

Over the past two weeks he has been mysteriously and terribly ill - none of the vets can figure out what's wrong with him, and right now he's on 4 different medications. While his pain pills are "on", he's his regular self - so that's good. I just wish we could figure out what's bothering my little man! He's the best pup anyone could ever ask for, and he doesn't deserve to be feeling icky. I also wish we had pet insurance. Hello vet bills!
The good news is that Missy (our beautiful girl) is doing quite okay even if she's now the old-lady of the house. We gave her a homemade haircut to keep her cool (in both senses of the word).
I think they both may have allergies of some sort though as they have been a little itchy. We'll be giving them an oatmeal bath today... they'll hate that!
All in all, even though my dogs are a lot of work and money, they give me more enjoyment than anything else in the world. I love waking up with them, going on our walks, laughing at their funny expressions and just spending time with them. I'm officially a dog person through and through.
Keep Trotter in your prayers - let's hope to figure this thing out ASAP!
