Reinventing: Kitchen Island

Our kitchen island is finally complete! We repurposed an unfinished Ikea kitchen cart (which we had bought 3 years ago for the living room), added a larger wood top to it (first photo below), painted it black, and tiled it with shiny black tile and dark grey grout. We also installed a wire glass rack on it for our wine glasses (purchased from Ikea). Doesn't it look fabulous? I even like the way that the lines in the chairs that were too big for our table, and too small for our counter, match the island's shelf lines. Next, we have to do the smaller one that's holding our microwave!
